Things I love: Recipes as art

Ok, this idea is so simple, it's brilliant.

The people over at Toast and Sip offer recipes as art, printed on canvas and ready to hang. You can choose from a few pre-designed ones (such as Chocolate Chip Cookies below) or you can send in your own recipe and they will create a custom designed one for you. (Could be a very cute gift idea for that aunt, grandmother or friend who is constantly misplacing her recipe book!)

They're not cheap, however. The pre-designed canvases will set you back $68 (US) for an 11x14 and $108 for an 18x24. The custom ones start at $100 for an 11x14. Luckily I have absolutely no wall space in my kitchen, so I can't be tempted to get one. However, for those of us on a tighter budget, they do offer cute note cards at $12 for a set.

Or, if you're up to the challenge, try making your own. A text-only version could be simple to put together (either digitally or by hand) and print on photo paper or card stock for framing. Also check out √Člena Nazzaro's amazing work in creating illustrated recipes with watercolors. Unbelievably tasty art work!

Dangit... now I'm hungry...
